This year, our Welfare Coaches have started running Financial Fitness programmes for local individuals who are looking for learn more about money management, managing an income, budgeting, getting into work, and much more. The first programme was a real success and we are so pleased with the feedback.
Here's Chris's story, who attended the Financial Fitness course and is now our first Welfare Coach Money Management volunteer!
Chris was referred to SOAR by his GP for motivation and wellbeing, and after speaking with our Link Worker and working with our Employment Team and Wellbeing Team, Chris was very interested in attending the Financial Fitness programme!
Chris really enjoyed the 4-week course, getting out and meeting new people.
"I found the course very interesting and informative and it was delivered at just the right pace. The content was aimed at assisting people in many money saving ideas and I believe the course objectives were achieved.
Personally, the course has given me the motivation to re-ignite skills I hadn't used for a while. My self-esteem has improved and I have more of a positive outlook for the future."
From attending the course, Chris says he was very impressed with the culture at SOAR and so talked to us about volunteering. He was interested in learning new skills and wanting to give back.
We are so pleased that Chris was successful in his application and is joining the Welfare Coach team as our very first Money Management volunteer!
