Living on a Budget

Our Welfare Coaches are hosting an event on Tuesday 4th October, 10am-1pm at SOAR Works Enterprise Centre, all about saving and managing your money, in light of rising costs of living. We all know this winter is set to be a difficult one for many, so the aim of this event is to provide information, tips and resources to help you get through it.

Here's a little bit of what you can expect on the day:

  • SOAR's Welfare Coaches will be around for a chat to explain what they do and the support they can offer.

  • If you're looking at getting into work or training, our Employment Team can help you on that journey! The Suit Works will also be attending (they are an amazing charity who offer smart interview clothing to those who might not be able to afford to buy something suitable).

  • The SOAR Wellbeing Coach team will be sharing affordable and healthy recipes (and there'll be free samples!), showing you how to grow your own food, and how you can work out effectively at home - no need to pay for a gym membership!

  • Yorkshire Water will be sharing information about their support schemes and more.

  • Some of the Sheffield City Council Housing team will be around to answer any questions and provide financial advice around rent and arrears.

  • The team at Parson Cross Initiative have an allotment group and a food bank at Mount Tabor. Find out more about the services, and also how you can get involved as a volunteer.

  • Are you in need of some warm clothing for when winter hits? BARC and British Heart Foundation are both bringing clothing for pop-up charity shops. Buying secondhand is cheaper for your wallet, and better for the environment - see what you can find!

  • National Energy Action is a national charity working to end fuel poverty, and they support people with energy and income maximisation advice.

  • Sheffield Wednesday Community Programme will be sharing information about their free gym sessions in the community.

  • Aspire will be around to talk about what they do and how you can buy refurbished computer equipment from them (more affordable and better for the environment too).

  • There will be free goodie bags filled with resources, tips and really helpful leaflets from a bunch of fantastic organisations - all about how you can save and better manage your money.

  • Get involved with a raffle too and you could be in with winning some amazing prices...

We'd love to see you on the day, and we hope it will be a really beneficial event. Find us at SOAR Works Enterprise Centre, 14 Knutton Road, S5 9NU (behind the shops on Margetson Crescent).
