Our chronic pain groups in Burngreave and Firvale are on every week, providing support and guidance for people living with long-term, persistent pain. Have a read to hear about what happened at the groups last month:
Tuesdays: (1pm – 2pm every Tuesday at Firvale Community Hub)

This month we had blood pressure checks, group discussions sharing our best pain management techniques, and lots of exercise with resistance bands.
In a few weeks we will have a Zumba instructor attend the group as well as a local GP!
Wednesdays: (11am-12pm every Wednesday at The Burngreave Ashram and Cornerstone Gym)

This month saw the Men’s Group spend half the session at Burngreave Ashram talking about pain management techniques and the second half of the sessions exercising at Cornerstone Gym.
The men have said that they really enjoy using the gym equipment and look forward to using it every week!
After Ramadan the men will be visited by a GP to give some general health and wellbeing advice as well as answer questions from the group.
Thursdays: (11am – 12:30pm every week at Burngreave Vestry Hall)

February was a busy month for our women’s group who had Singing for Lung Health & Wellbeing Practitioner Helen help us improve our breathing, a crafting activity with SOAR’s Wellbeing Coach Helen, and an extra special International Women’s Day event that had massage, henna, exercise, crafts, a super free raffle, and delicious food!
After Ramadan we will be visited by a dance teacher and a GP to help keep us moving.
What's Next:
Men and Women’s Group (Slovak Interpreters) Tuesdays, Firvale Community Hub 1pm – 2pm
Men’s Group (Arabic Interpreter) Wednesdays, The Ashram on Spital Hill 11am – 12pm
Women’s Group (Arabic, Urdu & Somali Interpreters), Thursdays, Burngreave Vestry Hall 11am – 12:30pm
We will be continuing throughout Ramadan for anyone who wishes to attend but also look forward to welcoming people back in April who are taking a break from the groups during this time.
Anyone living with chronic pain that would like to join a group to learn how to better manage in their day-to-day life as well as socialise and exercise are welcome to join any of the groups. No need to contact us, just turn up as we currently have the space at all the groups for some additional group attendees.
All the best,
An excited SOAR Wellbeing Coach
