We're working in partnership with Foundry Primary Care Network, delivering sessions for people living with chronic pain, to offer support and advice for effectively managing their condition. Have a read of this blog to see what happened in our December & find out what's next this year!
Tuesdays: (1pm – 2pm every Tuesday at Firvale Community Hub)
We have continued to be joined by the fantastic physio Lauren from Nuffield as well as 2 interpreters of Slovak to help facilitate the 1-to-1 physio sessions as well as the whole group discussions.
After feedback from the group we will continue to have Lauren at the group as well as trying to bring in some different exercises and additional visitors.
Watch this space for new adventures for this group in 2025!
Wednesdays: (11am-12pm every Wednesday at The Burngreave Ashram)
The Wednesday Men’s Group has continued to see the men growing in confidence with resistance band exercises whilst talking about their best ways to manage their pain day-to-day.
From January we will be moving a few doors down to The Ashram Community Building on Spital Hill, with Stefan continuing to lead the group.
Come and join at the new time of 11am and enjoy a drink and chat with some good company!
Thursdays: (11am – 12:30pm every week at Burngreave Vestry Hall)
The Thursday Women’s Group had an exciting December!
Helen (Singing for Lung Health & Wellbeing Practitioner) returned for a session helping the women learn new breathing techniques to improve lung health as well as help calm down one’s anxiety.
We had Louise (Personal Trainer) lead chair exercises really encouraging the women to move and strengthen their bodies with the resistance bands – you can see her in the photo with some of the women who regularly attend the group!
The final session of the year saw us have a little celebration with food from Pakistan, Somalia, Morocco, and Ethiopia, music, laughter, and speeches of thanks.
What's Next:
We will be back the week commencing 6th January with all the groups:
Men and Women’s Group (Slovak Interpreters) Tuesdays, Firvale Community Hub 1pm – 2pm
Men’s Group (Arabic Interpreter) Wednesdays, The Ashram on Spital Hill 11am – 12pm
Women’s Group (Arabic, Urdu & Somali Interpreters), Thursdays, Burngreave Vestry Hall 11am – 12:30pm
We will have our Personal Trainers, Physiotherapist, and Singing for Lung Health & Wellbeing Practitioner return to the groups as well as new visitors – watch this space!
Anyone living with chronic pain that would like to join a group to learn how to better manage in their day-to-day life as well as socialise and exercise are welcome to join any of the groups. No need to contact us, just turn up as we currently have the space at all the groups for some more people.
All the best,
An excited SOAR Wellbeing Coach
