New Support Group for pregnant women and new mums who are asylum seekers and refugees

A new support group has been set up in Burngreave to offer support to refugees and asylum seekers who are new mums or pregnant.

The free weekly sessions at the Burngreave Children’s Centre at 19 Spital Street run from 9.30am until 12 noon, and will give people the chance to talk to other mums, make friends, discuss pregnancy, birth, baby feeding and parenting.

There will be two NCT practitioners in attendance delivering antenatal and postnatal sessions, while interpreters will be on hand to help with any language barriers.

The sessions start with a general discussion and English practice, with the interpreters helping to run the sessions. Pre-school children are also welcome to attend too.

For information about the sessions please contact Amita Brown on 07876 600642.
