Springboard Social Café

SOAR in partnership with Sheffield Mind deliver a number of ‘Springboard’ Social Cafés aimed at supporting adults with mild/moderate mental health issues in North East Sheffield, linked to SOAR’s Social Prescribing Service.

The ‘Springboard’ Social Cafés based in Vestry Hall, Burngreave and Learning Zone, Parson Cross are delivered by experienced mental health staff, involving local volunteer ‘Recovery Coaches’ who will support and mentor members as part of their progression pathway.

The ‘Springboard’ Social Café promotes social networks, access to information/signposting for people who are at risk of declining health and yet to access primary care services.

Members are actively encouraged to volunteer as part of their recovery to co-design the development of the ‘Springboard’ Social Café model.

The ‘Springboard’ Social Café is a key community health support activity hub that primary and secondary care services refer into, and builds upon the assets of the existing community infrastructure.

‘’I was made very welcome I love it, it feels like a new start for me, the people are fantastic and make me feel welcome.

I have now received help and advice with my benefits and I now have a new boiler (3yrs without hot water) which I can’t thank SOAR enough in helping me.

I have now joined in other things with some of the people who attend the Social Café, I have been on walks and your Swim and Stroll group, I wish I had done it sooner.

Thank you for letting me join
