Peer-Led Self-Help Groups
The Health Development Team work within local communities as part of the Community Wellbeing Programme, to set up and deliver new & innovative activities that enhance the health and wellbeing of local people.
Many of these activities are been co-produced with SOARs Volunteers, and include:
- Chronic Pain groups
- Women’s Only Support group
- Swim Bus
- Craft groups
- Cook & Eat sessions
A Health Development Worker ensures that activities are accessible within the local community and work closely with other organisations to ensure activities and services are suitable for the client.
Quotes:
“I have been ‘happy pill’ free since January 2015. My Diabetes (Type 2) is down to pre diabetic levels and my blood pressure is lower. I may be pushing 64 but I certainly don’t feel it. I’ve entered a new chapter in my life, all thanks to the new friends I’ve made in the last 12 months”.
